Police investigation has revealed that accused Prerna and deceased Kiran (both aged 27) worked in the same telecom store and were in a relationship for more than a year. In recent times, Prerna had started feeling that Kiran was ignoring her and was not serious about marrying her. This resentment gradually took a dangerous form.

On the day of the incident, Prerna called Kiran to her house in Anjanapura, South Bengaluru. At that time she was alone in the house. There was a brief conversation between the two, after which Prerna blindfolded Kiran and made her sit on a chair. According to the police, as soon as Kiran was sitting tied and blindfolded, Prerna poured pre-prepared kerosene on him and set him on fire. She recorded the entire incident on her mobile phone, in which she allegedly watched it burn.
What did DCP say?
As soon as information about the case was received, the police reached the spot and took the accused woman into custody. DCP DL Nagesh said, “We have taken the woman into custody and after interrogating her we found that it was she who killed the man by setting him on fire. They were in a relationship and the woman felt that he was ignoring her.”
