Roommates- a tale of college friendship!

Roommates is a 2026 Netflix film. It has been rated at 5.7/10 on IMDB. With a runtime of 1 hour and 47 minutes, it falls into the genre of comedy.

Directed by Chandler Levack, it features Devon (played by Sadie Sandler) and Celeste (played by Chloe East) as its leads.
The plot is simple yet engaging. Devon enters college. She is a freshman. She yearns for a best friend, and when Celeste agrees to become her roommate, she is thrilled.
What Devon doesn’t know is how difficult and what a liar Celeste is!
In the background, we see 2 roommates in conversation with a therapist. They are constantly fighting and disagreeing over everything, and as the therapist unreels the story of Devon and Celeste, the roommates make peace with one another.
Devon makes several attempts with Celeste. She lets her wear her undergarments, meddle with her stuff and pay for a vacation on her dad’s credit card.
Celeste lied to her the whole time about her family background. She says her dad is a janitor and she is not rich like Devon. In reality, her dad is rich, but he left Celeste’s mom for a younger girl. That devastates Celeste, and she becomes a psychopath.

The scene where Devon exposes the truth about Celeste through her project is heart-wrenching. The viewer cannot help but feel sorry for Celeste. Despite the reality of Celeste, the viewer empathises with her.

As the movie nears its end, there is a fight between Devon and Celeste. A fire erupts, and Devon is held responsible for it. Demean is sent. To prison for 2 months, where she finds another roommate, but not a toxic one. As they are released from prison, they both establish their own architectural firm.
The question remains? Will Devon and Celeste make up with each other? Or will they stay enemies for a lifetime? Will they learn their lesson and forgive and forget, or will they continue to play the blame game?
The relationship between Devon and Celeste is powerful, and it is a relationship of convenience. Devon is desperate for a best friend, and Celeste for a family!
The scene where Devon finds out that Celeste has been dating the guy she had a crush on makes the audience weep along with Devon.
In conclusion, despite the modest rating the film received, it is still an interesting watch. The theme is unique, and its execution feels natural rather than forced. It doesn’t seem contrived. It is a must-watch. If you want to unwind and relax, sit comfortably on your couch with a bag of popcorn and watch the film! Kudos
