New rules for LPG cylinder under the shadow of Iran war, delivery will not be available without DAC code, know what is this new system and why is it necessary

News India Live, Digital Desk: Amidst the ongoing Iran-Israel tension and war in West Asia, the Indian government has taken a strict stance regarding the supply and distribution system of LPG. Amid fears of the crude oil and gas supply chain being affected globally, the ‘DAC’ (Delivery Authentication Code) system has been made mandatory to prevent black marketing and hoarding in the domestic market. Now without this digital code the cylinder will not be delivered to your home.

What is DAC number and how does it work?

DAC means ‘Delivery Authentication Code’. This is a kind of one-time password (OTP) which is sent to your registered mobile number or the device through which you have booked when you book the cylinder. Under the new rules of 2026, this code is no longer limited to SMS only; If you have booked through WhatsApp or mobile app, the code will also be received on the same platform. When the delivery boy brings the cylinder to your home, you will have to tell him this DAC number. Delivery will be considered ‘successful’ only after the code matches in the machine.

War conditions and new strict rules

Increasing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz due to the Iran war have put pressure on gas prices and availability. In view of this, the government has taken some strict steps:

Booking Interval: Now you will not be able to book another cylinder before 25 days in urban areas and before 45 days in rural areas.

Control on black marketing: With the implementation of DAC system, now no distributor will be able to sell the cylinder in black in your name without your knowledge.

e-KYC mandatory: Instructions have been given to stop the facility of subsidy and booking without biometric or Aadhaar linked e-KYC.

Why is this new arrangement important?

The biggest advantage of this system is transparency. Earlier many times complaints were received that the customer was not even aware and the cylinder was shown as delivered in his name and sold in the market at higher prices. Now since the code comes directly to the customer, ‘paper’ transaction of the cylinder is not possible without your permission. In the current global crisis, this ‘digital fort’ is proving to be very important in saving every drop of gas and ensuring its correct distribution.
