Trump’s threat or Iran’s U-turn? Global conflict broke out over hanging of 8 women, Tehran called the claim fake news
News India Live, Digital Desk: The ongoing war of words between America and Iran has now taken a new and very sensitive turn. US President Donald Trump has claimed that after his intervention, Iran has stopped the execution of 8 female protesters who were to be given death sentence on Tuesday night. Trump has thanked the leaders of Iran, calling it his biggest diplomatic victory. However, Tehran has completely rejected these claims and termed them as ‘false propaganda’ and ‘fake news’. This high-voltage drama has attracted the attention of the whole world. ‘My request was respected’ – Trump’s blast on social media President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’ and wrote, “Very good news! I have just received information that the 8 women protesters who were to be hanged tonight in Iran will not be executed now.” Trump further said that at his request, the Iranian government has decided to immediately release 4 women and reduce the sentence of the remaining 4 to only one month in jail. Trump has called it a ‘great start’ for the upcoming peace talks. Iran’s counterattack: ‘Trump cheated again’ A few hours after Trump’s claim, Iran’s judiciary-affiliated news agency ‘Mizan’ made a strong counterattack. Iran said that none of the women whom Trump was mentioning were sentenced to death. Tehran alleges that Trump has once again fallen into the trap of fake news circulating on social media and claims by activists. Iranian officials bluntly said that Trump was fabricating stories to ‘pat himself on the back without any achievements’. What was the whole matter? That report by ‘The Lawfare Project’ The controversy started with a post by social media activist Ayal Yacobi, in which it was claimed that Iran is preparing to hang 8 women. Names like Ghazal Ghalandari, Gulnaz Naraghi and Venus Hussain Nejad were said to be included among these women. While sharing a screenshot of this post, Trump had appealed to the Iranian leadership to release them. Human rights organizations say that thousands of people have been arrested in Iran following the protests since January, but the punishment of these specific 8 women remains a mystery. ‘Bargaining’ at the negotiating table: Peacekeeping experts believe that this entire incident could be an attempt to influence the upcoming talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad. Trump wants Iran to create a favorable environment for talks by taking such humanitarian steps. On the other hand, Iran says that unless America lifts the maritime blockade, any talks are meaningless. Deep concern is being seen in the international community about what is the real situation of those women amidst this ‘credit war’.
