Wounds on body, nose also fractured… IRS officer’s daughter murdered by strangulation, post mortem report will shock you

New Delhi. After the murder of the daughter of a senior IRS officer in an upscale area of Delhi on Wednesday, the post-mortem report of her body has found multiple scratch marks and wounds on both her hands and legs, ‘fracture’ in the nasal bone and strangulation. Dr. Sudhir Gupta, head of the forensic department of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, said that the woman (22) was taken to ‘Fortis Escorts Hospital’, where she was declared dead.

Discussing the post-mortem findings in detail, Gupta said that external examination found multiple injuries consistent with resistance. He said, “Apart from this, several wounds and scratch marks were found on the face, fracture of the nasal bone was also found, which indicated an attack with a heavy object.”

During examination of the neck, internal bleeding was observed in the ‘sternocleidomastoid’, ‘sternothyroid’ and ‘sternohyoid’ muscles. Fractures were found in both parts of the thyroid cartilage, while the hyoid bone was intact. Congestion of blood was found in all internal organs, which was consistent with death due to suffocation due to strangulation.

The doctor said that many samples have been preserved for forensic examination, which include viscera, ‘ligature material’, nail scrapings, blood on the gauze and swabs taken from the private parts, etc. He said, “Investigation shows that death occurred due to strangulation after the attack.” The preserved swabs and nail scrapings have been sent for further investigation to ascertain whether rape had taken place.” The forensic findings come amid the ongoing investigation into the crime that took place in southeast Delhi’s Kailash Hills. Shocking details have emerged in the investigation.

According to police sources, the accused, 19-year-old Rahul Meena, entered the house using the spare key and went straight to the 22-year-old victim’s study room on the terrace, where she was preparing for the civil services exam. It is alleged that he attacked the victim, strangulated her with a mobile phone charging cable and hit her with some heavy object. Investigators believe that the accused allegedly raped the daughter of a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer while she was unconscious and later dragged her downstairs.

He then tried to open the locker using the victim’s fingerprints, then broke open the locker with a ‘screwdriver’ and stole cash and jewellery. Police said the accused fled about 30 minutes before the woman’s parents returned home and changed his blood-stained clothes and slippers before fleeing.

CCTV footage shows that he entered the colony at around 6:30 in the morning and left by 7:20. Meena, who earlier worked as a domestic help in the victim’s house, was arrested from a hotel in Dwarka hours after the crime. Officials said he is also suspected to be involved in another rape case in Alwar, Rajasthan.
