Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Kiel, new direction for India-Germany defense cooperation
New Delhi/Keel. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, during his official visit to Germany, visited the state-of-the-art submarine manufacturing plant of TKMS (ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems) located in the city of Kiel. During this time, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius was also present with him. This plant is famous worldwide for the construction of advanced submarines and modern naval technology.
Describing this visit as extremely useful and informative, the Defense Minister said that the technology and operational capability displayed here is quite impressive. He said that this visit gave him the opportunity to closely understand the complexities associated with modern submarine construction processes, design, engineering and deployment. He inspected the plant and also held detailed discussions with experts and officials.
Sharing his experiences on social media, Rajnath Singh said that maritime security has today become an important part of the global strategy and the role of cutting-edge technologies in this field is continuously increasing. He said that such visits will give new strength to defense cooperation between India and Germany, especially in the naval field.
Earlier, a bilateral meeting was also held between the Defense Ministers of the two countries in Berlin, in which discussions were held to further expand defense cooperation, increase partnership in new technologies and promote joint production. Both sides stressed the need to jointly address changing global security challenges.
According to the Defense Ministry, India and Germany have agreed to make defense relations an important pillar of their strategic partnership. This includes technology transfer, joint research and development and cooperation in defense production.
India is currently paying special attention to strengthening its sea power and submarine capability. In such a situation, cooperation with technologically advanced countries like Germany is being considered an important step in this direction. Experts believe that this will increase the strength of the Indian Navy and further strengthen India’s strategic position in the Indian Ocean region.
