Now going to Mussoorie will be easy: Construction work on new greenfield bypass in Delhi-Dehradun corridor intensifies
Delhi Dehradun Economic Corridor Update: The construction of an important greenfield bypass under the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is progressing rapidly to provide relief to people from traffic jams and improve regional connectivity. The project is being developed as an approximately 12 km long four-lane access-controlled road in Uttarakhand, which is being built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The cost of this project is about Rs 716 crore and so far about 44 percent of its work has been completed.
According to officials, this bypass is targeted to be completed by April 2027. This new route will divert traffic without entering Dehradun city, which is expected to reduce both traffic pressure and pollution within the city.
Connectivity will be strong
This bypass starts from Jhajhra area and connects Paonta Sahib-Ballupur road (NH-7) and further connects to Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor near Asharodi check post. With its construction, transportation to areas like Selaqui Industrial Area, Vikasnagar, Herbertpur and Paonta Sahib will become easier. Besides, this route will also strengthen the connectivity between states like Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
took care of natural balance
Special attention has also been paid to making this project environment friendly. The design speed of the road is normally kept at 100 kilometers per hour, while in forest areas it is limited to 80 kilometers per hour, so as not to harm the natural balance. The width of the land for the road has also been limited, so that maximum trees and forest area can be saved. Many special structures are being built in this project to protect the wildlife.
These include a long wildlife overpass for the safe movement of large animals, a cattle overpass, small bridges, box culverts and pipe culverts for smaller animals. Apart from this, fencing and warning signs are being installed on the entire route, so that conflicts between humans and wildlife can be reduced.

This will not only reduce travel time, but also reduce pollution and improve the quality of life of citizens.
