Himanta Biswa Sarma on CEC Gyanesh Kumar: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that after the formation of the BJP government in West Bengal, strict action will be taken against those who attacked party candidates. He claimed that BJP will win 100 seats in Assam and 200 seats in West Bengal. He also demanded to give ‘Bharat Ratna’ to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, saying that the country will not forget his contribution in implementing SIR and it should be implemented in Assam also.

Countering Mamata Banerjee’s claim of victory amid the West Bengal assembly elections, Sarma said that her statements give a glimpse of the defeat. He sarcastically said that the tone of Mamata Banerjee’s speech has changed. Sarma expressed confidence that BJP will form the government in the state on May 4 by winning more than 200 seats.

Highest turnout for the first time after independence

Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that for the first time after independence, the highest turnout has been recorded in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. He praised the voters of both the states for this historic partnership.

Kapil Sibal taunted

At the same time, former Law Minister Kapil Sibal criticized the Election Commission and alleged that people in West Bengal are being deprived of their voting rights. He sarcastically said that the Chief Election Commissioner should be given ‘Padma Bhushan’.

Record voting in Bengal

Let us tell you that out of 294 seats in West Bengal, voting took place on 152 seats in the first phase, while voting was done on all 234 seats in Tamil Nadu. Till 10 pm, 92.66 percent voting was recorded in West Bengal and 85.14 percent in Tamil Nadu, which has broken all records till now.
