Amit Shah’s roar – ‘BJP is coming with huge majority in Bengal, will win more than 110 seats in the first phase’

Kolkata, 24 April. Encouraged by the record voting on 152 seats in 16 districts on Thursday in the first phase of Bengal Assembly elections 2026, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed confidence of a bumper victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claimed in a press conference held here on Friday that BJP is going to form the government in the state with an overwhelming majority and in the first phase itself, BJP will win more than 110 seats.

The time of Mamata Banerjee’s government is over

Amit Shah said that there has been record voting in the first phase, which shows the desire for change among the people of Bengal. This clearly indicates that the time of Mamata Banerjee’s government is over and Bengal now wants a BJP government. He stressed that people came to vote without fear and were not affected by Trinamool Congress goons.

As soon as BJP government is formed, problems like poverty and infiltration will end.

Shah said that problems like corruption, syndicate rule, poor law and order and infiltration in the state will end once the BJP government is formed. He promised that if BJP comes to power, it will provide employment to the youth, security to women and a new model of development to the state. He also said that every infiltrator will be driven out from Bengal and incidents like ‘Love Jihad’ and ‘Land Jihad’ will be completely stopped.

‘Mamata didi, your nephew will never be able to become the Chief Minister’

During a roadshow for the second phase of elections, Amit Shah attacked TMC and Mamata Banerjee and said, ‘Their time is over now. He said that Mamata didi is going to appoint her nephew in her place. But today I am saying that your dream will never be fulfilled. Your nephew will never be able to become the Chief Minister.

Regarding who will be the Chief Minister if BJP government is formed, Amit Shah said, ‘A lie is spread that if BJP wins, an outsider will become the Chief Minister in Bengal. Let me tell you that only such a person, who was born in Bengal, will become the Chief Minister of Bengal.

Abhishek Banerjee’s counterattack – BJP will not be able to cross the 50 mark this time too

Meanwhile, countering Amit Shah’s statement, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee said that he is insulting Mamata Banerjee by calling her ‘A Didi’. He said that Amit Shah’s style of speaking tells us about his thinking towards women. He said that BJP will not be able to cross the 50 mark again this time.

It is known that in the second and final phase of voting on 142 seats in Bengal, voting will be held on April 29 and the counting of votes will be done on May 4. It is noteworthy that in the voting held on Thursday, the number of women voters was more than men. The percentage of female voters was 92.69 while the percentage of male voters was 90.92. The percentage of voters of the third gender was 56.79.

Both rival parties hope to get decisive mandate in their favor

Interestingly, on the overwhelming turnout, both the major rival parties – BJP and TMC expressed hope of getting a decisive mandate in their favor. Addressing a rally in Nadia district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the poll as an “overwhelming mandate for change” and claimed election-related violence was the lowest in the last five decades.

However, the ruling Trinamool Congress rejected this claim of the Prime Minister outright. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the high turnout reflected ‘the fear among people that if they do not vote they may lose their voting rights and citizenship.’

CM Mamata linked voter participation with the process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. Assembly elections in West Bengal in 2021 were held in eight phases and the total voting percentage was 82.30 percent. In the 2021 assembly elections, voting in different phases was between 79 to 86 percent.
