Sita Navami 2026: Auspicious time, worship method, significance
In Hindu religion, the ninth day of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month is celebrated as Sita Navami or Janaki Navami. This day is considered a symbol of the appearance (birth) of Mother Sita. In the year 2026, this holy festival will be celebrated on Saturday, 25th April. According to religious belief, on this day Goddess Lakshmi incarnated on earth in the form of Sita. Therefore, worship of Lord Shri Ram and Mother Sita on this day is considered especially fruitful. Mother Sita has been considered the symbol of an ideal woman.
His life is an example of sacrifice, patience, dignity and purity. His life inspires us to practice restraint and religion even in difficult circumstances. By fasting, worshiping and donating on this day, one gets many times more virtuous results. Auspicious time of Sita Navami
According to the Panchang, Vaishakh Shukla Navami Tithi will start from 7:28 pm on April 25. However, there is a religious belief that Mother Sita was born in the afternoon (midday), hence worshiping at this time is considered especially fruitful. Abhijeet Muhurta on 25th April – will be from 11:46 am to 12:37 pm.
Birth story of Mother Sita
According to the legend, King Janak of Mithila was once plowing the field. During the same time, he got a divine girl from the womb of the earth. This girl was no ordinary girl, but a child of Mother Earth herself. King Janak adopted that girl as his daughter and named her Sita. The word ‘Sita’ means the line of the plough, because she appeared from the tip of the plough. Being the princess of Mithila, she is also called Janaki and being the daughter of Janak, she is also called Janaknandini.
Religious importance of Sita Navami
Mother Sita is considered to be the better half of Lord Shri Ram and the Shakti form of Lord Vishnu. Her life is the best example of an ideal wife, devotion to husband, religion and tolerance. On this day, devotees remember the qualities of Mother Sita and pray to her for happiness, prosperity, sweetness in marital life and happiness of children. Especially married women keep a fast for unbroken good fortune, while unmarried girls pray for a good life partner.
Janaki Navami worship method
On this day, wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes. After this, install the idol or picture of Mother Sita and Lord Shri Ram at the worship place of the house. During the puja, offer puja material which mainly includes flowers and garlands,
Akshat, sandalwood, incense and lamp, naivedya etc. After this, listen or read the fast story. On this day, Ramcharitmanas, Sunderkand or incidents related to Sita ji’s life are also recited. At the end, perform aarti and distribute prasad.
