Road of Singlachhada market of Shribhoomi district becomes center of waterlogging, anger among people
Shribhoomi: There is a lot of anger among the local people regarding the pitiful condition of the PWD road (Kalachhada and Singalachhada Bazaar Road) going from Anipur Tea Garden to Magurachhada Tea Estate in Shribhoomi district. This road in Singlachhada market of Ramakrishna Nagar assembly constituency of the district has no longer ceased to be a road and has turned into a pond of dirty water. Local residents allege that due to lack of proper drainage system, water accumulates on the road every day.
The situation is such that even the temple complex located near the market is in the grip of waterlogging, which is also creating hindrance in religious activities. This problem is having the biggest impact on the daily life of common people. School children have to cross water-filled roads to go to school, which poses a threat to their safety. At the same time, market shopkeepers are also facing financial losses daily. Due to dirty water, the incidence of mosquitoes has increased, due to which the risk of diseases is also increasing. Also, the life of the local people has become difficult due to the foul smell.
Accusing the Public Works Department (PWD) and public representatives of negligence, the local people have raised the question whether it is appropriate to consider only road construction as development, when no arrangement for drainage has been made. People have demanded immediate intervention from the administration and said that concrete drain construction work should be started as soon as possible and permanent drainage system should be ensured. Besides, a demand has also been raised to fix accountability of responsible officers and public representatives. Local citizens have warned that if concrete steps are not taken to resolve the problem within seven days, they will be forced to raise the issue with higher authorities through Right to Information (RTI).
