In view of the continuously increasing scorching heat in the district, the administration has taken a big decision to provide relief to school children. District Collector Anupama Jorwal has issued an order and changed the timings of all government and private schools from nursery to class 8.

According to the new order, from April 24, schools for these classes will now operate from 7:30 am to 12:00 noon. There has been no change in the timings and examinations of students from classes 9 to 12. Teachers and school staff will have to be present as per the pre-determined time only.

The administration has taken this decision keeping in mind the yellow alert issued by the Meteorological Department. According to meteorologist Atul Galav, the effect of heat wave is likely to increase in the district from April 25 and the temperature may reach 44 to 45 degrees Celsius in the next three days. On Thursday itself, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41.5 degrees, due to which the impact on life is clearly visible.

Due to the intense heat, there is silence in the markets and roads in the afternoon. Especially in rural areas, where the effect of heat is greater due to sandy loam, the situation remains even more challenging.

Collector Anupama Jorwal has given clear instructions that strict action will be taken against schools that disobey the order. The aim of the administration is to keep children safe from the ill effects of heat wave and heat.
