Viral Video: Lungi Ngidi tried to take a catch and fell on his head, ambulance had to be brought to the field

Lungi Ngidi Injured: A major accident took place during the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings on Saturday in IPL 2026. Delhi fast bowler Lungi Ngidi got badly injured while trying to take a catch. The accident was so serious that the match had to be stopped for more than 15 minutes and an ambulance had to be called on the field.

The incident occurred in the third over while Punjab Kings were chasing the target of 265 runs. Delhi Capitals captain Akshar Patel was bowling this over. Batsman Priyansh Arya played the ball in the air, Ngidi ran backwards to catch it. He jumped to catch it, but lost his balance and fell headlong on the ground.

Ngidi’s head hit the ground hard. As soon as he fell, the players, support staff and spectators present on the field were all stunned. There was silence in the stadium for a few moments. The players immediately ran towards him and the medical team was called.

Delhi Capitals’ physio and team doctor immediately reached the field. Ngidi lay on the ground in pain for a long time. Seeing his condition a stretcher was called. Teammates David Miller and Tristan Stubbs looked quite upset. Delhi Capitals coach Hemang Badani hinted at wearing a neck brace.

The medical staff very carefully placed a neck brace under Ngidi’s head and then he was strapped to a stretcher. According to reports, Ngidi was talking to doctors with hand gestures, but was unable to move his head and neck.

During this time, Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting also reached the middle of the field and inquired about Ngidi’s condition. After some time, an ambulance was brought to the field and the South African fast bowler was taken to the hospital on a stretcher.

According to sources, Ngidi was taken to Max Hospital in Karol Bagh for further examination and treatment. At present, official update on his condition is awaited.
