Raghav Chadha got a shock as soon as he joined BJP! More than 1 million followers lost in a few hours, Gen-Z left?

Raghav Chadha Followers Drop After BJP Join: Changing parties in politics is not a new thing. Leaders often change parties as per their strategy and opportunity. But now politics is not limited to just rallies and speeches, social media has also become a major measure of a leader’s popularity. The number of followers is today considered an indication of public trust and image.

Something similar is being seen with Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, who left Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined BJP. As soon as he joined BJP on the evening of 24 April, there was a flood of reactions on social media. The young leader who was considered the face raising voice against the system, is now facing criticism on the digital platform. There is a continuous decline in his Instagram followers.

10 to 11 lakh people unfollowed

Within a few hours, about 10 to 11 lakh people unfollowed him (at the time of writing), and this number is constantly changing. This is being seen not just as a figure, but as a reflection of the mood and reaction of the public. Raghav Chadha has long been recognized as the educated and influential young face of AAP. His activism in Parliament and strong presence on social media had given him special recognition. But now the question is being raised whether the decision to change party has harmed his image.

Decreasing followers on Instagram

Before joining BJP, he had around 14.6 million followers on Instagram, which came down to around 13.5 million. That means, in a short time, lakhs of people unfollowed him. Many users on social media are noticing this change and linking it to public resentment.

Environment changed after leaving AAP

Raghav Chadha was considered the representative of the new generation of AAP. His image was that of a leader who raises the issues of common people in Parliament. He raised his voice on issues like inflation, condition of delivery workers and paternity leave, due to which he gained a strong hold among the youth.

However, now many people are raising questions as to why he decided to join the BJP which he had earlier criticized. Some supporters are finding this move shocking and are linking it to opportunism.

Journey from AAP to BJP

The news of 7 out of 10 AAP MPs in Rajya Sabha leaving the party has changed the political equations. After Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal joining BJP, discussion on other names is also intense. With the simultaneous separation of two-thirds of the MPs, there is a possibility of their membership being saved under the anti-defection law.

Experts believe that this incident did not happen suddenly. Dissatisfaction had been growing within the party for a long time, especially regarding the politics of Punjab. Raghav Chadha and other leaders had expressed their displeasure earlier also, but this situation came to light when no solution was found.
