Ind W vs SA W T20: India won after 3 consecutive defeats, South Africa bowed before Deepti Sharma
INDW vs SAW 4th T20: After three consecutive defeats in the ongoing 5-match T20 series in South Africa, the Indian women’s team finally registered its first win. Experienced Deepti Sharma gave a brilliant all-round performance and took five wickets for the first time in her T20 career. On the basis of his excellent bowling, India defeated South Africa by 14 runs in the fourth T20 match played in Johannesburg on Saturday, 25 April. Although the host team had already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead, with this win India took the series score to 3-1.
India scored 185 runs in this match, seeing which it seemed that South Africa would achieve the target. But Deepti (5/19) put a stop to the run chase by taking important wickets in the middle overs and the host team could only score 171 runs for 9 wickets.
Deepti bowled amazingly
For South Africa, Sune Luus (40) and Tajmin Britts (30) gave a strong start to the team by adding 54 runs for the second wicket. As soon as Deepti Sharma bowled Luus, the match was in India’s grip.
Earlier, captain Laura Wolvaardt was dismissed by fast bowler Kranti Gaur. Deepti further broke the backbone of South Africa’s batting by dismissing Anri Dirksen, Kayla Reineke, Tumi Sekhukhune and Ayabonga Khaka.
Jemimah Rodrigues scored 24 runs in one over
Indian batting did not have a good start and Shefali Verma was out early. Anushka Sharma, who came into the team in place of Smriti Mandhana, could score only 23 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (22) and Jemimah Rodrigues (43) took over the innings, adding 55 runs in six overs for the third wicket. Rodrigues tried to change the course of the match by scoring 24 runs against Nonkululeko Mlaba in the 11th over.

However, Rodrigues, who was looking in good form, got out while playing a sweep shot. Harmanpreet was also batting well, but got caught behind the wicket on Reineke’s ball. After this, Deepti (36 not out, 26 balls) and Richa Ghosh (34 not out, 18 balls) made a partnership of 65 runs for the sixth wicket. Both of them added 56 runs in the last five overs to take the team to a strong score, which proved to be enough for victory in the end.
