4 New Mid-Size Nissan SUVs Launching Soon

Nissan, as part of its new strategy, is working on new models to make a comeback in the Indian market. As SUVs are the trend, they are focusing heavily on this segment, and we already have an idea of what the upcoming SUVs from Nissan are going to be. Here, we have a list of four such SUVs from Nissan launching soon in the Indian market.

This is going to be the first mid-size SUV that Nissan will launch in India. It is based on the same platform as the Renault Duster. The SUV will get a different exterior design, and from the teaser images that Nissan has shared, it is clear that they have opted for a design inspired by their flagship SUV, the Patrol.

The Nissan Tekton will come with all the features seen on the Duster. It would include seat ventilation, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, electric seats, leatherette upholstery, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and more.

The Nissan Tekton will be offered with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates 100 PS and 160 Nm of peak torque. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine will generate 163 PS and 280 Nm of peak torque. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT gearbox option.

Nissan is likely to follow the same trend as Renault and will launch a hybrid version of the Tekton in the market as well. The SUV will feature the same exterior design and features as the regular Tekton, but under the bonnet, it will get a different powertrain.

It would come with a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a strong hybrid system. It would get a 1.4 kWh battery to power the electric motor. It is expected to be one of the most efficient systems in this segment, allowing the car to be used as an EV up to 80 percent of the time in the city. The Tekton Hybrid is expected to be launched at least 3–6 months after the regular version.

As mentioned above, Nissan will be focusing more on SUVs. After the Tekton, they will start working on a 7-seater SUV that will be based on the same platform as the Duster or Tekton. In fact, it will be based on the Renault Boreal, which is available internationally. It will be slightly longer, wider, and taller than the Tekton, allowing Nissan to accommodate a third row of seats.

It is not yet clear whether Nissan will follow the same Patrol-inspired exterior design or go with a different theme for this SUV. It will likely be offered with the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine only, as the 1.0-litre engine would be underpowered for a 7-seater SUV.

Just like the Tekton, the 7-seater SUV from Nissan will also get hybrid technology. It is expected to be launched around six months after the regular version. This version will be powered by the same 1.8-litre strong hybrid engine, which is expected to generate a combined power output of around 160 PS.
