Meanwhile, an attacker tried to break the security cordon and fired several rounds. US President Donald Trump, his wife Melania Trump and Vice President JD Vance were present. Secret Service agents took immediate action and evacuated all the top leaders including Trump safely.

The attacker was taken into custody on the spot. It is fortunate that no one died in this incident, although a security officer was shot, but his bulletproof jacket saved his life.

Trump’s statement after the incident

While addressing a press conference at the White House after the incident, a journalist asked Trump, “Why are you facing deadly attacks again and again?” Trump responded in his characteristic style, “People follow the people who do the most and have the biggest impact.” He said that the post of President is very risky. “I can’t think of any other profession that is more dangerous than this.”

Trump described the attacker as a ‘lone wolf’ and said the suspect was a hotel guest. He had weapons like a shotgun, handgun and several knives. They also released a video, in which the attacker is seen running towards the security checkpoint and agents running to stop him.

Security officer’s life saved

Trump said that a Secret Service officer was targeted with a lethal weapon at very close range. Despite being shot, the bulletproof vest saved him and the officer is currently in good condition.

Trump was attacked before also

This is the second major deadly attack on Trump. Earlier, during an election rally in Pennsylvania, a bullet was fired at him, in which his ear was injured. Trump said he wanted to be at the event, but the event was canceled on the advice of security agencies. It will be organized again later.
