Rung Rueang grew from a street cart into a Michelin Bib Gourmand, serving tom yum noodles at affordable prices.

Rung Rueang Pork Noodles has a history of more than 50 years, starting from a street cart on the sidewalks of Bangkok. Thanks to its success, the owner opened a permanent shop, whose open interior is clean but simple.

The Michelin Guide has included the shop in its Bib Gourmand category, which recognizes quality food at reasonable prices, since 2018. The guide notes that minced pork balls are highlights that customers should not miss.

They can customize their bowl by choosing between noodle types and preparation styles, such as tom yum soup, dry noodles and clear broth. The toppings available include pork, fish skin, fish cakes, beef balls, and meatballs.

There is a variety of rice noodle types like wide, thin and flat.

Some suggest ordering two small portions, one tom yum and one clear soup, to try both flavors.

The dishes are priced according to size (S, M, L). On travel forums, Rung Rueang is a popular recommendation. Members describe the tom yum as having a Thai flavor at an affordable price of just 60 baht (US$1.84). Users also warn that the tom yum is spicy.

Tripadvisor gives the shop a rating of 4.5/5.

Reviewers mention the long waiting time because of the crowds, and feel the service can be improved.

Rung Rueang is on Soi Sukhumvit 26, central Bangkok. Visitors can take the BTS Skytrain to Phrom Phong Station, and the place is just a 3-minute walk from the exit. The shop is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
