CRPF commandos will be deployed for the security of Harbhajan Singh, Central Government has given security to all the MPs who came from AAP to BJP.

New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has decided to provide security of Central Security Forces to former cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh. The Center has taken this step hours after the Punjab government withdrew his security. Now CRPF commandos will provide security to Harbhajan Singh in both Delhi and Punjab.

Punjab government had removed Z+ security

This morning, the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab had removed the Z+ category security of Harbhajan Singh. 9-10 security personnel and government vehicles were withdrawn from his Jalandhar residence. This was confirmed by Harbhajan Singh’s personal assistant Mandeep Singh.

On Saturday, protesters created a ruckus outside Harbhajan’s house and wrote ‘Traitor of Punjab’ on the wall with black spray. Police was present at the spot, but made no effort to stop the protesters.

Other MPs who joined BJP from AAP also got security

According to Union Home Ministry sources, apart from Harbhajan Singh, other Rajya Sabha MPs who left Aam Aadmi Party and joined BJP have also been given central security. These include Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Swati Maliwal, Rajendra Gupta and Vikramjit Sahni.

Now CRPF commandos will handle the security of all these leaders. This decision has been taken in view of the increasing threat to these leaders and the protests taking place outside their residences in Punjab.

Bhagwant Mann’s sharp attack

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann targeted these MPs who left the party, calling them ‘traitors’. He said that these leaders have betrayed the trust of the people of Punjab. In fact, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha had claimed that seven MPs of his party were joining BJP. Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal have already taken membership of BJP.

After this, Swati Maliwal and Vikramjit Sahni also confirmed joining BJP. This step is considered important amid the changes in political alliances and increasing security related challenges. The central government has taken immediate action to ensure the security of these leaders.
