Next-Generation Hyundai Creta To Get A Boxy Design: Fresh Spy Shots
The Hyundai Creta still dominates its segment and is now in its second generation here. More precisely, the outgoing SUV is the facelifted second-generation. The Korean carmaker is now working on the third-generation SUV. Test mules have been spied multiple times in the past giving out key clues about what to expect. Now, fresh spy shots have revealed that the new Creta will have a boxy design and an SUV-like stance.
These spy shots have been shared online by Carbuzz.com. Previous spy shots were mostly from South Korea where Hyundai has its base in. These are, however, from the United States. The SUV’s tall stance and boxy design can be seen in these pictures. It is seen driving on what looks like a private road. The front, front three-quarter and side views of the new Creta can be seen in these images.
From what is visible in these images, the new Creta seems to have taken some design inspiration from the Hyundai Crater concept. Showcased at Automobility LA 2025 in Los Angeles, this rugged, compact all-electric off-road concept SUV got a lot of appreciation for its design.

Its influence can be particularly seen in the design of the front fascia. The new Creta seems to have an upright nose section and tall bonnet. The lights, we assume, would draw inspiration from the CRATER concept and the IONIQ range.
From what we can see in these images, the exterior design has been made sharper. The upcoming Creta will have a crisp roof line, possibly with a slash cut. The pillars and bottom of the glass area will also look sharp. Overall, the upcoming SUV will have a design that has more character to it than the outgoing one.

Since this is a full generational change, we expect Hyundai to give the upcoming Creta a complete interior ovehaul. It will likely feature a cleaner, more modern cabin layout. The feature list is also expected to be updated.
As hinted by a previous spy shot, the new car may get larger screens. The outgoing model comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. These are likely to be replaced with larger 12.3-inch units. This sounds logical as even the second-generation Hyundai Venue comes equipped with 12.3-inch screens.
There may be more feature additions, the details of which remain unclear for now. It is tough to guess as even the outgoing Creta offers a lot of features. We will likely see major revisions in interior colours and trims.

As can be seen in these spy shots, the upcoming Creta will be larger than the outgoing model. This is because it will be underpinned by the new K3 platform and not the current model’s K2 platform. Larger dimensions will translate to more usable room inside- particularly better leg room at the rear. The new platform will also be more structurally rigid and will be safer as well.
The new model will retain the outgoing one’s powertrain options- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L turbocharged diesel. These may be optimised further to offer better refinement, fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
In the future, Hyundai will also give the Creta a strong hybrid petrol powertrain. It will have a 1.5L petrol engine at its centre and is currently said to be under development. We will get to know more about its power, torque and debut timeline sometime soon.
