IPL 2026: CSK is dependent on Sanju Samson, how many matches will one batsman win?
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a very disappointing start in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He had to face defeat in three consecutive matches. After this, on April 11, Sanju Samson (115 not out) opened CSK’s account by scoring a century against Delhi Capitals.
CSK made a strong comeback by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the next match. In this match also, Sanju was the highest scorer for CSK. He played an inning of 48 runs in 32 balls, helping CSK post a challenging score of 192 runs and then restricted KKR to 160 thanks to the lethal bowling of Noor Ahmed (3/21). It seemed that CSK had returned to its old colors but against Sunrisers Hyderabad, it again had to face defeat as Sanju (7) failed.
Sanju again took charge in the next match against Mumbai Indians and led CSK to a big score. After this, Akil Hussain (4/17) and Noor (2/24) showed their brilliance and gave CSK a huge win by 103 runs.

CSK is getting stuck due to Sanju not playing
Sanju has been the highest scorer in all three wins won by CSK so far. In the match in which he is getting out early, CSK’s batting is faltering. On Sunday (26 April) against Gujarat Titans, Sanju could score only 11 runs in 15 balls. Urvil Patel (4), who was playing his first match of this season, also left after 3 balls of his return to the pavilion. After this, CSK fielded Sarfaraz Khan as an impact player but he got out on a golden duck.
CSK’s batting order was shattered by 3 blows in 7 balls. By the end of the powerplay, the team’s score could reach only 28 runs, which is the second lowest score of this season.
