Called her real sister as ‘second wife’, husband was shocked when he came to know, this is how the woman ended her 28 year old marriage.

Gwalior: A unique divorce case has come to light in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. To end their 28 year old marriage, the wife declared her husband’s sister as his second wife. On the basis of this misleading claim, the family court unilaterally granted divorce, which the husband is now challenging in the High Court.

Journey from marriage to separation

In 1998, a woman from Gwalior was married to a man working in a marketing company. Everything went well in the initial years, but due to her husband being out of the house often, fights between the two started increasing. From 2015 the woman started living separately from her husband. The woman wanted a divorce somehow, but the husband was not ready for the divorce. The dispute continued for a long time.

False allegations and misuse of photos

In 2021, the woman filed a divorce petition in the family court. She alleged that her husband had remarried. As evidence, she presented a family group photo, in which the husband was standing with his sister and other relatives.

The woman claimed that the woman standing next to her husband was his second wife. The family court accepted this photo as evidence and without giving the husband a chance to present his side, issued a unilateral divorce order in favor of the woman.

Husband was surprised when he found out

When the husband came to know about the divorce decision in the first week of April, he was shocked. On looking at the court papers, he saw that the woman who was described as his second wife was actually his own sister. The wife had deliberately misled the court.

Challenge in High Court

Now the husband has filed a petition in the Gwalior Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court demanding cancellation of the unilateral divorce order. The husband says that the wife has obtained divorce on the basis of false evidence and false statements. The government lawyer has also confirmed this matter. The High Court is hearing this petition.
