Cheetah KP-3 reached the villages of Rajasthan from MP, Forest Department issued alert!
The activities of cheetah KP-3, which reached Rajasthan from Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, has attracted the attention of the forest department and the local people. In the last two months, this cheetah has been roaming in many forest areas and residential areas, covering a long distance of about 600 kilometers.
According to the information, KP-3 has visited Kishanganj, Chhipabraud, Atru, Chhabra and other forest ranges of Baran district. During this time, he also came close to the villages several times, due to which an atmosphere of fear as well as curiosity was seen among the villagers. On one occasion, when a crowd of villagers got close to him, the cheetah became aggressive, following which forest officials had to intervene and safely remove the people.
At present, its presence has been recorded in various ranges of Baran district of Rajasthan, where the Forest Department team is continuously monitoring it.
According to forest department officials, during this period, KP-3 has hunted more than a dozen animals including Nilgai, goat, calf, rabbit and wild boar. This hunting is part of its natural process of survival, but its presence near residential areas remains a matter of concern.
Some time ago, there was a problem in tracking the location of the cheetah due to its GPS collar getting wet. However, his movements were later detected again when a new signal was received. During this time, he crossed Parvati river and reached Kishanganj area and also stayed in Shergarh Sanctuary for a few days.
Meanwhile, another cheetah, KP-2, from Kuno is also active in Rajasthan and has been seen around Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. Wildlife experts are also alert about the presence of leopards in an area like the Tiger Reserve, because this area is the main habitat of tigers.
Experts believe that these cheetahs’ long distance travel is part of their natural behavior, but their access to human habitations can be challenging. At present, the Forest Department is keeping an eye on the activities of both the leopards and is appealing to the people to remain alert.
