Quick action by Sonbhadra Police, successful unveiling of girl murder case in two hours

Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma, the Myorpur police station took immediate action and successfully unveiled the case of recovery of the girl’s body. It may be noted that on 27.04.2026, the body of a girl aged about 12 years was found in a suspicious condition under the Myorpur police station area. In this regard, a case was registered under MoU No. 57/2026 Section 103 (1) BNS at Myorpur Police Station, Panchayat Nama of the dead body was filled and post mortem was done.

Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, SOG, surveillance and special police teams of the police station were formed and intensive investigation was done on the basis of collection of evidence and technical/manual input. The incident was unveiled by the police team in just 02 hours. During the investigation, the name of accused Deepak Kumar son of Nandlal came to light.

It is also to be noted in this case that the accused appears to be a distant maternal uncle of the deceased and lives in the neighbourhood. On 27.04.2026, the police team was conducting a raid to arrest the accused, during which the accused opened fire on the police team. The police retaliated in self-defence, and the accused was arrested in the encounter. During interrogation, the accused admitted to causing the incident. Further legal proceedings are underway against the accused as per rules.
