What makes Harsil special?
Harsil is a very beautiful and less crowded hill station located in Uttarkashi district. The temperature here remains quite pleasant even during the summer months, which provides instant relief from the scorching heat of Delhi. If you visit the nearby highlands, you may also get a chance to see snow at many places. Keep in mind that even if you are going to visit in summer, keep warm clothes with you, because the temperature here remains quite low.
What to see in Harsil?
**Bhagirathi River:** Bhagirathi River is the real foundation of the beauty of Harsil. Sitting on its banks amid dense deodar forests and listening to the melodious sound of the gurgling river is truly a relaxing experience.
**Dharali Village:** Located just 3 km from Harsil, this small and cute village is famous for its apple orchards and breathtaking views of the Himalayas. From here the snow covered peaks are clearly visible.
**Mukhwa Temple:** Mukhwa Temple is in Mukhwa village, near Harsil. This temple is believed to be the winter abode of Mother Ganga; During the winter season, when the doors of Gangotri Dham are closed, the idol of Mother Ganga is installed here.
Apple Orchards: Harsil is famous all over India for its juicy and tasty apples. Walking through the apple orchards here during the months of October and November—and tasting fresh apples—can be a truly magical experience.
Sattal: Sattal can be reached by trekking about 3 km from Dharali. It is a beautiful group of seven natural lakes, completely surrounded by forests.
Gartang Gali: If you love adventure, then don’t forget to go on the historical Gartang Gali trek. Once an important trade route connecting Tibet, this route has now been opened to tourists.
How to reach here?
Harsil can be reached by road from Delhi. First go to Dehradun or Rishikesh, and from there proceed towards Harsil via Uttarkashi. Apart from buses, you can also reach Harsil by train. For this, first go to Haridwar, and from there take a bus or taxi to reach your destination.
