Preity Zinta expresses frustration over ‘trophy’ label

Preity Zinta has expressed her frustration over the status of women in society after she was labelled as Punjab Kings’ ‘trophy.’

During an exclusive Q&A session, the actress, widely known for her roles in Kal Ho Naa Ho and Veer Zaraspoke at length about how women should not be reduced to labels and should be given the same amount of respect as men.

Extending her wishes following Punjab Kings’ strong win in the Indian Premier League, Zinta said, “Thank you, that’s very sweet, but honestly speaking, no woman wants to be a trophy. While the actress shared her unfiltered thoughts on the subject, the Never say goodbye star also shed light on her upcoming films.

“I always wanted to do a period film that’s why I signed Lahore 1947. And of course, it’s with one of my favourite directors, Raj Kumar Santoshi, and Sunny is always a pleasure to work with.”

She noted that the film tends to explore “a story of love in times of division and hate.”

For the unversed, the actress is currently gearing up for the period drama Lahore 1947, which is slated for release on August 13, 2026.
