Number of registered investors of NSE crossed 13 crores, 40 percent investors are under age.

New Delhi. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has achieved a new milestone in terms of the number of registered investors. The number of registered investors of NSE has crossed 13 crores.

NSE achieved this feat during the trading session of Monday, April 27. Before this, in September 2025, the number of investors registered on NSE had reached the level of 12 crores.

In this way, in a period of just seven months, one crore new registered investors joined the National Stock Exchange. According to the information provided by the National Stock Exchange, there has been a tremendous increase in the number of women among the registered investors associated with NSE.

One in every four registered investors of NSE is a woman. Similarly, the average age of investors of National Stock Exchange has also come down to 33 years. Before this, in the year 2021, the average age of NSE investors was 36 years.

According to stock exchange records, about 40 percent of its investors are below 30 years of age. Let us tell you that in the last few years, the pace of increase in the number of investors in the stock market has increased significantly.

It took a period of 14 years for the number of investors on the National Stock Exchange to reach the level of one crore. After this the number of investors started increasing rapidly.

After completing the number of one crore investors, in the next 11 years the number of registered investors of NSE reached four crore. After this, for the last few years, on an average, one crore new investors are joining the stock exchange in a period of six to eight months.

According to NSE data, the number of registered investors grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26.4 percent in the five-year period from FY 2020-21 to FY 2025-26.

During the previous five-year period, this rate was 15.2 percent. During the same period, the market capitalization of companies listed on the National Stock Exchange increased to Rs 460.6 lakh crore at a compound annual growth rate of 18 percent.

According to the information provided by the National Stock Exchange, people from most parts of the country have joined NSE as registered investors. At present, NSE registered investors are present in 99.85 percent pin codes (postal areas) of the country. Meaning, not only are there registered investors of NSE in every district of the country, registered investors of NSE have reached most of the blocks of the country.

If we talk about NSE’s numerically highest number of investors state-wise, then Maharashtra is the state with the highest number of investors in the country with approximately two crore registered investors.

Uttar Pradesh ranks second in terms of number of registered investors, where the number of registered investors is around 1.5 crore. Whereas Gujarat is at third place with the number of registered investors of about 1.1 crore.
