New path of growth for MSMEs through Lean implementation!

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of India’s industrial growth. They contribute about 30% to the country’s GDP, about 45% of exports and provide employment to more than 11 crore people. In areas like Vasai and Palghar, MSMEs play an important role in driving local economic growth.

However, many businesses are facing challenges such as rising costs, low efficiency, quality issues and increasing competition. To address these problems, the Government of India has launched the MSME Lean scheme, which aims to help businesses increase productivity, reduce wastage and improve overall performance.

Saurav Srivastava, an Electronics Engineer, MBA (Finance) and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, has over 17 years of experience in manufacturing and service industries. He has led operational excellence and process improvement initiatives for leading companies such as Amazon, KPMG, Hindalco, Mahindra and Qatar Airways.

Through Sigma Easy, these globally recognized Lean and Six Sigma methodologies are now being made accessible to MSMEs. These practices around the world have helped organizations reduce costs by 10–30%, improve process efficiency, and effectively utilize resources.

The MSME Lean Scheme provides a unique opportunity for local entrepreneurs. Under this scheme, MSMEs receive expert guidance, structured implementation and financial support, making this transformation practical and extremely cost-effective.

In fact, under this scheme entrepreneurs can implement Lean practices at a very nominal expense of around ₹10,000 to ₹15,000, making it accessible even to small industries. Most importantly, Lean is not limited to just a few tools, rather it is a means of developing a culture of continuous improvement in the organization.

Customer satisfaction is an important but often overlooked aspect. By reducing defects, ensuring on-time delivery and consistent quality, businesses can increase customer trust and loyalty—key pillars of long-term success.

This is an opportunity for businesses in the Vasai-Palghar region to become competitive at the national and global level. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to take advantage of this initiative and join it to make their businesses more profitable, sustainable and future-ready.

The future belongs to efficient and quality-based enterprises, now is the time to act.
