Consumption of pan masala and drugs banned in Lucknow University, fine of Rs 500 if caught, disciplinary action if caught more than three times
Lucknow. Paan, masala, gutkha and intoxicants etc. are consumed by employees, officers and teachers in Lucknow University (LU) campus, which is against the decorum, dignity of the office and the employee and teacher conduct rules.

Vice Chancellor Prof. In compliance with the orders of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jai Prakash Saini, if any employee, officer or teacher is found consuming paan, masala, gutkha and intoxicants etc. in the university campus, a fine of Rs 500 will be imposed on the concerned person. If any employee, officer or teacher is found consuming paan, masala, gutkha and intoxicants etc. more than three times, then disciplinary action will be initiated against the concerned person as per rules. This information has been given by Registrar Dr. Bhavana Mishra.
Let us tell you that in 2017, CM Yogi Adityanath had banned paan, pan masala and gutkha in all government offices, schools, colleges and government hospitals. Lucknow University being a state university comes under this scope. COTPA 2003 (Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act) and State Government orders may prohibit consumption, spitting and sale of pan masala, gutkha or tobacco products in educational institutions like universities. Violation may result in challan or disciplinary action.
