Mumbai Indians lost due to bad bowling, why did Pandya captivate the audience?

Mumbai Indians (MI)’s poor performance continues in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Five-time champion MI has lost its sixth match of this season. On Wednesday (April 29), MI team lost even after scoring 243 runs. Ryan Rickleton scored unbeaten 123 runs in 55 balls with the help of 10 fours and 8 sixes, which helped MI score its third highest score but it proved to be insufficient.

 

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) easily achieved the huge target of 244 runs by losing 4 wickets with 8 balls remaining. For SRH, Travis Head scored 76 runs in 30 balls, while Abhishek Sharma played a brilliant inning of 45 runs in 24 balls. Whereas Heinrich Klaasen ended the match early by playing an explosive inning of 65 runs unbeaten in 30 balls. After the crushing defeat, MI captain Hardik Pandya said that the dew had no significant impact. They played some good shots and we bowled bad balls. After this, Pandya said something to the spectators of Wankhede Stadium, which would displease them.

What did Hardik say to the audience?

In the post match presentation, when Hardik Pandya was asked about the support from the audience, he said, ‘We did not give them much opportunity to support us but they have been excellent and loyal.’ Hardik further said, ‘Sometimes it feels sad when the players of the opposition team come to the field and they (spectators) start cheering them.’ Hardik knew that there could be an uproar over his statement, so while covering up, he said, ‘Maybe we have to give them more opportunity (to celebrate and raise slogans).’

What did Hardik say about his performance?

32 year old Hardik scored 31 runs in 15 balls, hitting 2 fours and as many sixes. After this, he also did wonders in bowling and took the wicket of Head and spent only 23 runs in his first 3 overs. When SRH needed 11 runs in 12 balls, Hardik decided to bowl the 19th over but SRH won the match by scoring 16 runs in just 4 balls. Hardik said on his performance, ‘I had a lot of fun on the field today. I enjoyed bowling except the last three balls.
