Volkswagen Polo will now run in an electric avatar! Know the range and features

German automaker Volkswagen has introduced the Volkswagen ID Polo, the first fully electric model of its popular hatchback Volkswagen Polo. This new electric car is based on the company’s MEB+ platform. Bookings for this electric hatchback in the international market are likely to start from the end of April 2026. It can cost less than around 25,000 Euros which is approximately Rs 27.76 Lakhs.

Size and design

The ID Polo measures 4,053mm in length, 1,816mm in width and 1,530mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,600mm. This car is the first car based on Volkswagen’s new “Pure Positive” design language. The front gets interlaced LED headlights, with eyelid-style DRLs and an illuminated Volkswagen logo.

The front bumper has been kept simple and attractive. It features vertical air intakes on both sides with air dams and a small front splitter.

Side and rear design

The side profile features a raised line and wide fenders, which give the car a sporty look. According to the company, its C-pillar design is inspired by the Volkswagen Golf. It has an option of up to 19-inch alloy wheels.

The rear features a full-width LED light bar with an illuminated Volkswagen logo. Apart from this, there is a large roof spoiler, small vertical air outlets and a diffuser-like design on the bumper.

Interior and features

A large 13-inch touchscreen is placed in the center of the dashboard of this car, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Below the screen are AC vents and necessary buttons like hazard lights, climate control and defogger.

The floating center console features a wireless charging pad, round knob for music control, cup holders, charging ports and plenty of storage space.

Steering and other facilities

The car features a two-spoke heated steering wheel with multiple control buttons. A 10-inch digital display is provided in front of the driver, which can be set in a classic layout. It gets dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, ambient lighting and leatherette seats.

Apart from this, modern facilities like rearview camera, auto-dimming IRVM and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) are also available.

Battery and performance

The ID Polo offers two battery options, 37kWh and 52kWh. Both the variants have a front-wheel drive (FWD) setup and the electric motor generates 290Nm of torque.

116hp in the lower variant and 135hp in the higher variant with a 37kWh battery. According to the company, this battery offers a range of around 329 km once fully charged.

The car has 90kW DC fast charging support, which takes around 23 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent.

52kWh powerful variant

The variant with a 52kWh battery generates 211hp of power. Also, Volkswagen is also developing a sporty Volkswagen GTI version of the car, which is likely to get 226hp of power.

With a 52kWh battery this car can give a range of around 454 km once fully charged. The 105kW DC fast charger takes approximately 24 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent.
