Asian Beach Games 2026: Priya Malik and Pushpa Yadav won gold in wrestling, Indian wrestlers did wonders in China
Sanya. Indian wrestlers performed brilliantly on Wednesday, winning four medals including two gold in beach wrestling at the Asian Beach Games 2026. With this, India’s medal tally increased to six. In the matches held today, Priya Malik (Women’s 70kg) and Pushpa Yadav (Women’s 60kg) won gold medals, while Siddharth (Men’s 70kg) and Jaspreet Kaur (Women’s 70kg) won silver and bronze respectively. In the women’s 60kg final, Pushpa Yadav defeated Asian champion Xie Mengyu of China 3–0 to win the gold medal. Vietnam’s Thi Mai Hanh Nguyen completed the podium.
Asian medalist Priya Malik won India’s second gold medal in wrestling by defeating Mongolia’s Bolo Ratunglag Zorigt 3-2 in the women’s 70kg final. Li Wenjie of China won the bronze medal. Jaspreet Kaur was the second Indian female wrestler to reach the podium. After losing to Vietnam’s Thi Linh Dang in the 70kg semi-finals, Jaspreet Kaur won the bronze medal against Kazakhstan’s Beibit Seduali 2-0.
China’s Jia Long and Thi Linh Dang won back-to-back gold and silver medals in the women’s 70kg. Among India’s male wrestlers, Siddharth was the only one to make it to the podium in the 70 kg category. After defeating Pakistan’s Muhammad Abdullah 1-0 in the semi-finals, Siddharth had to settle for a silver medal after losing 3-0 to Iran’s Aliakbar Zaroudi in the final.
Kyrgyzstan’s Addis Rakhat Ulu made it to the finals on the men’s 70 kg podium. Priyanshi Prajapat also had a chance to win a medal in the women’s 50 kg category, but due to injury she had to withdraw from the bronze medal match. India’s six medals at the Asian Beach Games 2026 include three gold, two silver and one bronze.
