IPL 2026: Abhishek Sharma and Klaasen win the orange cap race

New Delhi. There was a big change in the race for the Orange Cap and Purple Cap in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 after Sunrisers Hyderabad’s six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians on Wednesday. Hyderabad batsmen performed brilliantly and completely changed the run table.

Orange Cap: Abhishek and Klaasen’s dominance
Before the match, Rajasthan Royals batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the Orange Cap holder with 400 runs, but after this match he slipped to third place.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma played a quick inning of 45 runs in 24 balls, while Heinrich Klaasen scored an unbeaten 65 runs in 30 balls to lead the team to victory. With this performance, Abhishek Sharma has reached the top with 425 runs, while Klaasen is at second place with 414 runs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is now at third place with 400 runs. After him, KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals and Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore are at fourth and fifth position respectively. Both these players have crossed the 350 run mark this season.

Purple Cap: Ishan Malinga at the forefront
In bowling, Ishan Malinga once again performed impressively and took 1 wicket for 29 runs. He made Mumbai Indians captain Suryakumar Yadav his victim.

With this performance, Malinga is now at the forefront of the Purple Cap race with 15 wickets. Behind him, Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Jofra Archer of Rajasthan Royals and Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings are in second place with 14 wickets each.

At the same time, Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants and Kagiso Rabada of Gujarat Titans remain in the front row with 13-13 wickets.
