Rohit Sharma disappointed, Nita Ambani in tears as MI lose to SRH
Wankhede Stadium was abuzz with excitement as the Mumbai Indians (MI) took to the field with renewed hope. Finding themselves ninth in the Indian Premier League (IPL) table, the former champions hoped for a revival. Ryan Rickelton’s historic ton sparked hopes as MI scored a mammoth 243 on the board.
Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Heinrich Klaasen, though, had other plans which left everyone shell-shocked. When the cameras panned to Rohit Sharma, the former MI skipper had a forlorn look on his face. The look of helplessness as his team began to unravel with shoddy bowling and shabby fielding.

Later in the game, with Abhishek and Travis going strong, thecameras turned towards the owners. Akash Ambani was clearly taken aback by the assault the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) openers were putting the home bowlers through. Nita Ambani, on the other hand, was seen crying.

Jasprit Bumrah continues to struggle
With 244 needed to defend, Trent Boult began by conceding 11 runs from his opening over. The second over of the chase was bowled by Bumrah, which went for another ten. It was as if the visitors were warming up. Will Jacks was then smashed for 19 runs as the tempo began to change and go towards the opposition. Allah Ghanzafar was hit for two boundaries in his first over, but it was Bumrah’s second over that tilted the balance in Hyderabad’s favour entirely.
The 32-year-old gave away 18 runs with two sixes and a four in the over. By the end of six overs, theIPL 2016 winners had already scored 92 runs to set the tone for the chase. Ashwani Kumar, bowling the 7th over, then went for 23 runs to knock the wind out of Mumbai’s sails. The right-arm pacer ended the day with figures of none for 54 from his four overs.
Heinrich Klaasen stands tall
There was a brief moment of hope when Ghazanfar got two wickets in successive balls, and then Hardik Pandya dismissed Head. Earlier in the innings, the home side failed to hear a nick of the Australian player’s bat when he was just settling down. Had they gone for the review, things could have been much different. Just when the fans began to believe, Klaasen dashed those hopes.
The South African batter scored 65 not out off just 30 balls. His partnership of 80 with Nitish Kumar Reddy ended whatever chances Pandya’s men had of a third win this year. Salil Arora then hit the final nail in the coffin with his unbeaten 30 of 10 balls to seal one of the best chases in the league’s history. As far as Mumbai is concerned, it is all but over, and there will be more questions asked as fans look back at this season with complete heartbreak.
