Mobile theft gang running for 10 years busted, Delhi-Nepal connection exposed, 2 arrested

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has succeeded in arresting a big gang smuggling stolen mobile phones. This gang used to send stolen or lost mobile phones from Delhi to Nepal and sell them at high prices. Police have arrested two accused in this case and recovered a total of 40 mobile phones from them.

Accused caught during delivery

Police said that this gang was being monitored for the last two months. On the basis of technical surveillance and intelligence, the police identified both the supplier and the receiver. During the operation, Mohammad Shahnawaz alias Shanu was arrested by laying a trap near Crown Plaza parking in East Delhi, from whom 6 stolen mobile phones were found.

Meanwhile, the police also caught the second accused Mohammad Rizwan, who was about to catch a bus from Ghazipur to Nepal border. He had 34 mobile phones in a red trolley bag. The police caught him a few minutes before he could escape.

Used to be sold at expensive prices in Nepal

Investigation revealed that out of 40 mobile phones recovered, 6 were related to theft cases, while 34 phones were registered in missing cases. Accused Rizwan used to buy mobiles at cheap prices in Delhi and sell them at higher prices in Nepal. He used to make a profit of about 3 to 4 thousand rupees on every mobile. During interrogation, he revealed that he was active in this business for the last 10 years and was also running his shop in Nepal.

Criminal record of the accused

According to the police, Shahnawaz has earlier also been involved in 7 cases of theft and Arms Act. Cases of theft and assault are registered against Rizwan in Uttar Pradesh. About 15 years ago he had gone to Nepal and settled there.

Police investigation continues

Delhi Police is now deeply investigating other members and networks of this gang. There is a possibility that more people may be involved in this racket.
