Madhya Pradesh: Cruise filled with tourists drowns in Bargi Dam, Jabalpur, 29 people were on board, 4 bodies recovered so far

Jabalpur, 30 April. A major accident took place on Thursday evening amid a storm in Bargi Dam, built on the Narmada River, a major tourist destination, about 25 km from the district headquarters in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, when a cruise ship filled with tourists suddenly went out of control and sank. There were 29 people aboard the cruise operated by the tourism department.

18 tourists were rescued

As soon as information about the incident was received, administration, police and SDRF teams reached the spot. The rescue operation is going on a war footing and divers are busy searching for the missing people. So far, four tourists including three women have died in the accident. The rescue team has found the bodies of all four. 18 people have been rescued.

According to the information received, at around six in the evening, the cruise was going amidst the waves carrying tourists, when suddenly a strong storm came and the cruise went out of control and got drowned in the waves of Narmada river. Cruise Captain Mahesh Patel is also reported missing. The rescue team is busy searching for them.
