West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 Data: This time an average of 9000 more votes were cast on every seat in West Bengal, this is why this figure is important for BJP and TMC.
New Delhi. Voting for West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 has been done. The results of 294 seats of West Bengal Assembly will be declared on May 4. Three out of five exit polls have predicted that BJP will form the government in West Bengal this time. Whereas, two exit polls have again said that Mamata Banerjee’s TMC government will be formed. It will be known only on May 4 which exit poll of West Bengal is correct, but before that many more voting figures are coming. One of these figures is quite interesting.

Elections were held in West Bengal in two rounds on 23 and 29 April. In the first round on April 23, 93 percent i.e. 3.35 crore votes were cast in West Bengal. Whereas, in the second round on April 29, about 92 percent voting took place and 2.95 crore votes were cast. Now if we look at the voting of the West Bengal Assembly elections held in 2021, then 81 percent i.e. 3.08 crore votes were cast on 152 seats and 83 percent i.e. 2.95 crore votes were cast on 142 seats. At that time the total number of voters in West Bengal was around 7.4 crore. Whereas, this time due to SIR and logical discrepancy, names of 90 lakh voters were deleted and the total voters were 6.8 crore.

The thing to note is that despite large-scale deletion of voters’ names in West Bengal, this time 0.27 percent more votes were cast than in 2021. That means on an average 9089 more votes have been cast in almost every seat. Before the West Bengal Assembly elections, it was estimated that in the seats where TMC defeated BJP by a margin of 5000 to 15000 votes in 2021, due to large number of votes deducted due to SIR and logical discrepancy, BJP may defeat Mamata Banerjee’s TMC this time. Now in such a situation, the thing to be seen will be that what does the average increase of 9089 votes on each seat in 2026 as compared to 2021 play? Because in most assembly elections, victory or defeat is by 9 to 10 thousand votes.
