Commercial gas becomes expensive, prices ranging from Rasgulla to Biryani may become expensive

Knews Desk-Once again a sharp increase in the prices of commercial LPG gas cylinders has been recorded in the country, which is likely to have a direct impact on the hotel, restaurant and catering sector. Oil marketing companies have increased the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder by about Rs 993, which is equivalent to about Rs 1000. After this change, the price of a commercial cylinder in Delhi has increased to Rs 3071.50.

Along with this, the price of 5 kg small commercial cylinder has also been increased by Rs 261. However, it is a matter of relief that there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders, due to which common households will not be directly affected at present. Experts believe that even though this increase may not be directly applicable to domestic consumers, its effect will gradually be visible in the market. Commercial gas is used extensively in hotels, dhabas, bakeries, canteens and big events like weddings. In such a situation, due to increase in costs, the prices of these services may also increase.

Wedding packages may become expensive due to the increase

The impact of this increase will be felt more during the wedding season. Due to increase in the cost of catering services, wedding packages may become expensive, which will increase indirect pressure on the pockets of common people. For example, whereas earlier the gas expenditure for a big event was within a fixed budget, now the same expenditure can add an additional burden of thousands of rupees. The hotel and restaurant industry is already facing rising food, electricity and transportation costs. In such a situation, this new increase in the prices of gas cylinders can further affect their profits. Many small businessmen will be forced to either increase their prices or cut their profit margins.

What do the experts say?

Economic experts say that fluctuations in global crude oil prices and international market conditions impact domestic LPG rates. Apart from this, the position of rupee against dollar also plays an important role in price determination. Although the government has made efforts to maintain relief to domestic consumers, the impact of increased expenditure on the commercial sector may ultimately result in consumer inflation.

This huge increase in commercial gas cylinders has increased the cost of business activities, which is believed to have an indirect impact on the pockets of the general public.
