KL Rahul Class, Starc’s Firepower Seal Capitals’ 7-Wicket Win vs Rajasthan Royals

A solid start from Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul set up the Delhi Capitals to post a brilliant 7-wicket victory in the IPL 2026 game played against the Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur.

The duo’s partnership has set up a solid base for Delhi Capitals to complete the chase in the final over. Mitchell Starc also played a crucial role by picking three crucial wickets in the game. By this win, Delhi Capitals secured 6th position in the IPL 2026 points table.

After choosing to bat first, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi opened the innings while Mitchell Starc opened the bowling attack.

Mitchell Starc got the first breakthrough, dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for 6 runs. He got dismissed on a delivery where the batter hit it back towards Starc, which he took the catch easily.

Dhruv Jurel came to bat at No.3 joined Vaibhav Suryavanshi before the 14 year old got dismissed for 4 runs.

He got dismissed on a full toss delivery where Suryavanshi attempted to dig out, but the under edge got him bowled out as the openers were dismissed cheaply.

Riyan Parag came to bat at No.4 and joined Dhruv Jurel aiming to stabilise the innings as the side scored 56 runs in the powerplay.

The duo made a 50-plus partnership leading the fight back against Delhi Capitals. Riyan Parag smashed fifty off 32 deliveries and leading the side from front.

However, Axar Patel broke the crucial partnership dismissing Dhruv Jurel for 42 runs. He got dismissed on a short and outside off delivery where the wk-batter hits high in the long-off and Stubbs took a easy catch.

Ravindra Jadeja who joined Parag, got dismissed by Mitchell Starc for 20 runs. He got dismissed on a slower short ball as he hit it straight towards Ashutosh.

In the same over, Starc bagged the wicket of Riyan Parag for 90 runs. He got dismissed on a shortened length delivery where Axar Patel took the catch.

Dononvan Ferreira played a crucial cameo setting up the side to cross 200 run mark. Despite Shubham Dubey’s dismissal, Ferreira’s 47* run knock set up Rajasthan Royals to post 225 runs.

Mitchell Starc bagged three wickets while Kyle Jamieson, Axar Patel and T Natrajan bagged a wicket each.

Chasing 225 run target, Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul opened the innings while Jofra Archer opened the bowling attack.

The duo made a solid start as the side posted 70 runs in the powerplay. By the end of powerplay, Pathum Nissanka scored fifty off 23 deliveries as the side made a solid start in the chase.

The duo forged 110-run partnership for the first wicket. However, Ravindra Jadeja brought the first breakthrough dismissing Nissanka for 62 runs. He got dismissed on a lbw and Nitish Rana joined KL Rahul aiming to complete the chase.

Soon KL Rahul smashed his fifty which is his fourth fifty of this season. In the meantime, Nitish Rana got dismissed by Tushar Deshpande for 33 runs. He got dismissed on a wide yorker outside off delivery and Jurel picked the catch.

Jofra Archer brought the necessary breakthrough dismissing in form KL Rahul for 75 runs. His knock included 6 fours and 5 sixes.

Ashutosh Sharma came to bat at no.5 joining Tristan Stubbs to complete the chase. With the duo at the crease, Delhi Capitals secured a 7-wicket victory in the final over.

Delhi Capitals will play their next match against Chennai Super Kings on May 05 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
