West Bengal Elections: Political atmosphere heated up in Kolkata, Suvendu Adhikari reached EVM strong room

West Bengal Elections: Amidst the election atmosphere in West Bengal, political tension regarding EVM strong room is increasing. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari reached the EVM strong room located at Sakhawat Memorial School, Kolkata on Friday evening. He remained present there for about 10 minutes. A day before this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also stayed in the same strong room for several hours.

TMC made serious allegations

Trinamool Congress has alleged that the election officials opened the strong room without giving information and there is a possibility of EVM tampering. The party claims that the presence of suspicious people was also seen there. After these allegations the political atmosphere has become more heated.

Clash at some booths in western region

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has decided to conduct re-polling in 15 booths of West Bengal after the violence and controversy during the second phase of voting. It was reported that incidents of clashes, EVM disputes and tension were reported at some booths in Diamond Harbor and Magrahat West area.

CAPF soldiers deployed

In view of the situation, security has been increased outside many EVM strong rooms in Kolkata. The administration has banned the gathering of five or more people within a radius of 200 meters. Also, a large number of CAPF soldiers have been deployed.

If EVM is tampered…

There was a protest between TMC and BJP supporters outside the strong room on Thursday night for several hours. After this the security arrangements were further tightened. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also said after coming out of the strong room that if there is any attempt to tamper with vote counting or EVM, her party will strongly oppose it.
