May Weather: There will be heavy rain in North India, Orange alert in Kerala and Rajasthan, know the weather condition of UP-Delhi.

Delhi. An increase in the minimum temperature was recorded in the national capital on Saturday morning. Two days before this, the temperature had dropped due to light to moderate rain. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ in view of the possibility of rain and thunderstorm in the next two days. The minimum temperature at Safdarjung, the city’s main weather monitoring centre, was recorded at 25.9 degrees Celsius, which is 3.1 degrees higher than the previous day and 1.2 degrees above normal. Other weather stations also recorded a similar rise in the minimum temperature.

Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 23.6 degrees Celsius, 2.3 degrees higher than Friday; Lodhi Road recorded a minimum temperature of 24.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees higher than the day before; Ridge recorded a rise of 3.3 degrees and Ayanagar recorded a rise of 4.2 degrees. The minimum temperatures in Ridge and Ayanagar were 23.7 degrees Celsius and 25.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to IMD, the maximum temperature on Saturday is likely to be 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next two days. “Thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with speed of 30 to 40 km per hour are likely to occur on Thursday with very light to very light rain,” an IMD official said. He said that similar situation is likely to persist on Monday also.

Meanwhile, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the air quality in the city remained in the moderate category and the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 119 at 9 am. The 24-hour average AQI recorded till 4 pm on Friday was 120. According to CPCB, AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’. The Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi has predicted that the AQI will remain in the moderate category for the next few days.

Mercury rises slightly in Lucknow, UP, relief from heat

There was a change in the weather in the city on Friday also due to rain on Thursday night. There was a slight increase in mercury but there was relief from the heat. There was no speed even in the sun. This reduced the heat. People felt relief even in rural areas. Due to heavy rain at night the temperature dropped to around 31 degrees. This kept the weather cool and felt a sigh of relief from the rising temperatures for several days. The weather remained fine on the second day also.

The afternoon temperature was recorded around 32 degrees, but the heat remained less. Since it was a holiday, less people came out of their homes and there was silence on the streets. Even the sun did not shine. The weather remained fine in the evening also. However, there is a possibility of increase in mercury on Saturday. Keeping in view the weather, farmers and gardeners completed wheat harvesting and other tasks in rural areas.

Mango gets damaged again due to storm

Mango crops in Malihabad, Kakori and Mal were again damaged by the storm on Thursday night. The fruits on the trees fell due to the strong wind. This increased the concern of the gardeners further. The yield this time is expected to be quite high. Malihabad gardener Sachin Yadav says that mangoes have been damaged by the storm. Rain will increase the incidence of insect diseases. Gardener Mohsin Khan said that the rain will increase the size of mangoes. At this time the gardens need water. Which has been completed by the rain. But, the storm has reduced the yield. Senior agricultural scientist Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Dubey said that this rain is beneficial for mango and other crops. In view of the rising temperatures, crops need irrigation.

Rajasthan: Strong storm and rain at many places including Jaipur

Due to the effect of Western Disturbance, there was a strong storm and rain at many places in Rajasthan including Jaipur on Saturday morning. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of strong thunderstorms and rain continuing in many parts of the state even after noon. The department said that in many districts including Jaipur and Sikar, the weather changed suddenly on Saturday morning and there was a strong dust storm and light rain. This gave people relief from the heat.

According to the Meteorological Center, Jaipur, due to continuous thunderstorms, drizzle and rain, the maximum temperature in the state has dropped by two to three degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is being recorded at 41-43 degrees in most parts which is around the average normal temperature. According to the weather center, due to the activation of another western disturbance and the influence of easterly winds coming from the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in the state for the next three-four days and there may be light moderate rain at some places.

Heat wave likely to continue in Tamil Nadu

Due to excessive humidity and temperatures two to three degrees Celsius above normal in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the heat wave is likely to continue till May 5. In the bulletin issued by the Chennai-based Regional Meteorological Centre, it has been estimated that the temperature in Chennai (Meenambakkam), Erode, Karur, Nagapattinam and Vellore districts of the state will be two to three degrees Celsius above normal. Similarly, the temperature in Chennai (Nungambakkam), Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Kanyakumari, Karaikal, Dindigul, Madurai, Puducherry, Salem and Tiruchirappalli districts is also expected to be 1.6 degrees Celsius to 3 degrees Celsius above normal.

The highest maximum temperature (42.4 degrees Celsius) was recorded in Tamil Nadu on Friday in Vellore, which is equivalent to 108.32 degrees Fahrenheit. Udhagamandalam recorded the lowest minimum temperature (12.2 degrees Celsius) in the hilly areas. Temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit were recorded in more than 15 districts of the state. The Meteorological Department said that from Saturday to May 4, there is a possibility of isolated heavy rain with thunder, lightning and strong winds in Nilgiri, Theni, Erode, Salem, Namakkal and Dindigul districts. Oothu in Tirunelveli recorded eight centimeters of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

IMD issues ‘Orange Alert’ in Kerala

Heavy rain occurred in various parts of Kerala on Saturday, following which the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for four districts of the state. The IMD has issued an orange alert for three hours from 2.30 pm for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Idukki and Malappuram districts. IMD has predicted lightning and strong winds with speeds up to 50 kilometers per hour in various parts of these districts.

Earlier this week, the IMD had predicted winds at a speed of 40–50 km per hour and rain with lightning in some parts of the state till May 3. ‘Orange Alert’ is issued in view of the forecast of very heavy rainfall of 11 to 20 cm. Meanwhile, Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) said very high levels of ultraviolet (UV) radiation were recorded in the state till 1 pm on Saturday. According to KSDMA, UV levels were recorded above 8 in Konni and Munnar in Pathanamthitta.
