Now do multitasking while watching videos, big update of YouTube, PiP feature started for all users
YouTube Picture In Picture Feature: YouTube has made a big change in today’s world of video streaming and has launched a new feature for the users named Picture-in-Picture (PiP) which has now been announced to be rolled out globally. It is being told that this feature will be rolled out for all users in the coming months. The feature was available here before but only for Premium users on Android and iOS, and it was also made available to some non-Premium users in the US. With the increase in the scope of this special feature, the user experience will be seen changing completely.
What is PiP feature and why is it special?
Talking about Picture-in-Picture i.e. PiP feature, it turns the video into a small floating window and that too when you exit the app or minimize it. Earlier it used to happen that the video would stop after exiting the app, but after the introduction of this feature, the video will not stop but will keep playing in a small player on the screen.
Like any of your other apps, you can move this mini player anywhere on the screen and use other apps as well. This is the reason why it is being considered a very useful feature for multitasking. Along with this, let us tell you that Google first started this feature for Premium users on iOS in 2021.
Now who will get the benefit of PiP?
After the arrival of the new feature, the biggest question that comes in people’s mind is who can use this new feature. So, after the new update, now even non-premium users outside America will be able to use PiP on both Android and iOS, although it is also important to know that this feature is currently limited to only long and non-music videos.
It is also worth noting that Premium Lite users will also get similar access, but the biggest benefit will be to the full Premium subscribers, in which by using the feature they will be able to use PiP for music content also.
How does PiP feature work?
Using this new PiP feature is very easy and beneficial.
- Simply press the home button or swipe up from the screen while playing a video
- The video will automatically play in a small floating window
- You can drag it anywhere on the screen
If you want to close it, then tap on the mini player and press the X icon or drag it downwards. Apart from this, if you are among those who do not want to activate PiP, you can pause the video before exiting the app. Due to which it will not convert into PiP.
