Amazon’s big blast in India: Investment of Rs 2800 crore, now delivery will be done in minutes in big cities including Mumbai
Amazon Samridhi Program: Amazon has announced a new investment of approximately Rs 2800 crore ($300 million) to further strengthen its operations in India. The objective of this scheme is not just business expansion but also to improve the safety, health and financial stability of the employees. This investment is part of the company’s larger strategy, under which it is moving towards investing more than $35 billion in India by 2030.
Mumbai will become the new hub of quick commerce
Mumbai is included as a major center in this expansion. The company is rapidly expanding its quick commerce and delivery network in big cities like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru. Micro fulfillment centers and delivery systems are being strengthened in Mumbai, so that customers can get faster delivery within minutes and hours.
The company is implementing its ‘Prosperity Programme’ Through this, it will help in connecting lakhs of its associates and more than 2 lakh community members with government schemes in many states including Gujarat, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Facilities like e-shram card, health insurance, pension schemes and educational assistance are included under this scheme.
Network expansion for faster delivery
Amazon is continuously expanding its fulfillment centres, sortation centers and delivery stations in India. In 2025, the company started many new centers, which has further strengthened the delivery network across the country. Now the company aims to ensure fast and reliable delivery from small towns to big metros.
Increasing focus on quick commerce
The company’s new service Amazon Now has been developed for faster delivery. In big cities like Mumbai, through this service, the facility of delivering essential goods within minutes is being provided. For this, more than 300 micro fulfillment centers have been created across the country and there are plans for further expansion.
A major part of this investment will be spent on the well-being of employees and delivery partners. The company says that its entire network is based on its employees, so their safety and health is the top priority.

Project Ashray will be expanded in 2026, under which leisure facilities for delivery workers will be increased. Medical camps will be organized across the country, where free health check-up will be provided. Health programs for truck drivers and delivery staff will also be strengthened.

Use of technology and AI
Under the ‘Samriddhi Programme’, employees are being linked to Ayushman Bharat and other government schemes, so that they can get better health and financial security. Along with this, Amazon is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make its delivery network more secure and faster. This will make delivery routes more efficient, provide real-time alerts to drivers and reduce delivery times.
