Initial struggle and journey to Mumbai

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s journey to Mumbai was very difficult. The actor had reached Mayanagari with only Rs 2500. Here he did not get any big work in the beginning, so to survive he even took up the job of a watchman. Due to his association with theatre, he had self-confidence, but getting opportunities in the industry proved to be very difficult.

It took a long time to get recognized

In a recent interview given to Radio Nasha, Nawazuddin told that he got his real identity from the film Gangs of Wasseypur. After this, films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan further increased his popularity. But to reach this point he had to struggle continuously for almost a decade.

I started doubting myself

Recalling his days of struggle, Nawazuddin said that initially he had entered the industry with great confidence. He was confident that he was a good actor. But due to not getting work continuously and facing repeated rejections, his confidence started wavering.
He said that many times he started feeling that perhaps what he had learned was wrong, or that there was something lacking in himself.

Kept considering myself ‘wretched’ for 10 years

The actor revealed that for about 10 years he felt as if he was “wretched”. Many times it used to happen that a big project would come into his hands, but he would be removed before the shooting could begin. Because of this he started considering himself unlucky. He told that such incidents also affected his mental health.

Spent the day with Parle-G

Nawazuddin also remembered that period of his life when he did not even have money for food. He used to survive by eating Parle-G biscuits the whole day. Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. Even today, when he eats Parle-G, he remembers his days of struggle. He said that now the taste of that biscuit hurts him because it reminds him of those difficult times.

Today Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one of the most respected and talented actors in the industry. His acting receives appreciation from both audiences and critics.
