Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi’s reaction on Allahabad High Court’s decision regarding Namaz.

Lucknow . Islamic scholar Maulana Javed Haider Zaidi has expressed a balanced and pro-law reaction to the recent decision given by the Allahabad High Court on offering prayers in public places.

Maulana Zaidi said in his official statement that worship has utmost importance in Islam, but along with it, following the law and maintaining social order is also equally important. He said mosques and designated places for offering prayers exist, and religious activities in public places without permission could cause inconvenience and disorder.

He said, “Religion teaches us discipline, peace and co-existence. We should avoid any action that may cause tension in the society or cause trouble to the common people.”

It is noteworthy that the court has made it clear in its decision that permission of the administration is necessary for any type of religious activity on public land. According to the Court, religious freedom is a fundamental right, but it is subject to public order and the rights of other citizens.

Maulana Zaidi further said that Muslims should respect the law and social harmony of the country while performing their religious duties. He appealed to all communities to give priority to mutual brotherhood and peace.

Legal analysts believe that this decision is an important step towards striking a balance between religious freedom and public interest.
