Introduction to Folk Fitness
(Health Corner) :- Ashwin Pandey, Manoj Upreti and Aarti Pandey of Pune have started a unique initiative, in which people are being motivated to stay fit through folk dance. This workout has been named ‘Folk Fitness’. The program is designed for hardworking people, like farmers, mill women and fishermen, who keep fit through their traditional dance. This workout focuses on mind, body and soul. Let us know about this one hour workout session.
Workout session features
There is a two-minute break at the end of each session, in which it is advisable to drink only a sip of water to avoid stomach cramps.
The specialty of this workout is that the folk dances are changed every month, using folk dances from different regions, so that the muscles can relax.
workout steps
1. Meditation: At the beginning of Folk Fitness, participants are asked to forget about mobile and other worries and concentrate only on the workout for an hour. After this, meditation is done for peace of mind and soul.
2. Warmup: Warmup is done before workout, so that the body can prepare for exercise. It is necessary for everyone.
3. Upper Body Workout: Includes Bihu, Koli, Garba and Rajasthani dances for shoulders, chest, back, biceps and triceps. Bihu dance uses the arms and shoulders, while Koli dance works out the chest and back.
4. Cardio Workout: Cardio is kept in the fourth session, which is most effective for weight loss. High intensity cardio workout is done in this.
5. Stretching and Voice Over: All workout sessions are followed by body stretching through Shavasana, which involves introspection to relax the mind, body and soul.
