GT vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans have consigned the Punjab Kings to their second-straight defeat in IPL 2026 as they emerged victorious in a close encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 3, Sunday. Washington Sundar’s quick-fire 40 was vital in a close encounter as the Titans crossed the line only with one ball to spare. With the Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) winning their respective fixtures, they have kept their playoff chances alive.

With Titans captain Shubman Gill winning the toss at the Narendra Modi Stadium, he sent the Punjab Kings into bat. While Priyansh Arya survived a catching opportunity from Jos Buttler in the first delivery of the innings, he couldn’t survive the following delivery. Cooper Connolly also departed for a first-ball duck, while Prabhsimran Singh also perished within the powerplay. However, Suryansh Shedge and Marcus Stoinis hit back with a 79-run partnership before the former fell for a brisk 57. Stoinis dished out some big hits before falling for 40. With Rashid Khan bowling the final over, Marco Jansen dished out a couple of lusty blows to drag their side to 163/9 in 20 overs.
In response, the Titans lost Shubman Gill cheaply but B Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler kept the runs coming. Despite losing some wickets, including Sai Sudharsan for 57, the Titans were in control of the run-chase as it came down to 11 off the final over. When 3 runs were needed off 2, Washington Sundar dispatched a six to deep fine leg. It is also the first time the Titans have beaten Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Jason Holder earned the Player of the Match award for his figures of 4-0-24-4.
