Olivia Wilde has reaction to her recent viral interview

The Don’t Worry Darling actress faced criticism after a photo from her April 24 appearance at the San Francisco International Film Festival went viral. In the image, she was captured up close, and many drew comparisons between her look and Gollum. She took to Instagram Stories to address the trolling, speaking with her brother, Charlie Cockburn, about it.

Cockburn asks her about the latest rumors that she looks like a “resurrected corpse.” Wilde replies, “Listen, that’s a fish-eye lens. And I admit, is that my best angle? Was that my best-ever look? No. No, it’s startling. It’s a startling image.”

She argued that the photo was a result of the fish-eye lens and that she had no idea why she was standing so close to the camera. Wilde continued to insist it was the style of lens used in the interview. She added, “I didn’t have to be. That’s not the truth.” She asked Cockburn if he had any more questions before saying, “I’m not dead,” then laughed it off, covering her face with a baseball cap. “Leave it to your little brother to give you the maximum amount of s—,” she captioned the video.

The Invite marks Wilde’s third directorial feature, following Booksmart and Don’t Worry Darling. The movie remakes the Spanish film The People Upstairs, directed by Cesc Gay, and releases on June 26, 2026.
