According to Varietythe comedy-drama sequel made a striking box office debut, earning big numbers during its opening weekend following its May 1 release.

With Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles, the film grossed $77 million domestically and $156.6 million worldwide during its opening weekend.

The original The Devil Wears Prada opened to $27.5 million domestically during its 2006 debut weekend.

The sequel also surpassed the biopic Michaelwhich earned $54 million in its second weekend.
