The Devil Wears Prada 2 has achieved massive success just days after its release.
According to Varietythe comedy-drama sequel made a striking box office debut, earning big numbers during its opening weekend following its May 1 release.
With Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles, the film grossed $77 million domestically and $156.6 million worldwide during its opening weekend.
The original The Devil Wears Prada opened to $27.5 million domestically during its 2006 debut weekend.
The sequel also surpassed the biopic Michaelwhich earned $54 million in its second weekend.
In addition to the returning cast, the sequel generated buzz with a star-studded lineup, including appearances by Lady Gaga, Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Ciara, Ashley Graham, Amelia Gray, and Ashley Simone.
The sequel follows Andy Sachs, played by Hathaway, as she reunites with Miranda Priestly, portrayed by Streep, navigating their careers amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing.
