Women Will Continue to Receive Honorarium and Free Electricity as Long as AAP Is in Power in Punjab: CM Bhagwant Mann

Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, while addressing a Lok Milni event in Ghogra village of Dasuya constituency in Hoshiarpur district, launched a direct attack on the opposition and announced that as long as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) remains in power, women will continue to receive honorarium and free electricity in the state.

Life Imprisonment for Sacrilege Offences

He stated that the Jagat Jyot Shri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026 has ensured strict measures to curb sacrilege incidents, adding that offenders will now face life imprisonment. He said that if the opposition had sincere intentions, such incidents could have been stopped earlier.

Difference Between His Government and Previous Ones

Criticizing opposition parties, including Shiromani Akali Dal, Mann said the key difference between his government and previous regimes is that public money is now being spent on people rather than ending up in politicians’ pockets.

Allegations of False Propaganda

Addressing the gathering, Mann said that anti-Punjab forces are spreading false propaganda out of jealousy over the state’s progress. He emphasized that his life is an “open book” dedicated to the welfare of Punjab and its people.

Opposition Engaged in Misleading Campaigns

He further accused traditional parties of treating people merely as vote banks and said they are unable to digest the current government’s pro-people policies. According to him, these forces are spreading baseless and misleading campaigns to tarnish his image.

Focus on Public Welfare

Mann highlighted that unlike previous governments, he has not taken money from the state treasury for personal benefit and has ensured every rupee of taxpayers’ money is spent wisely. He said he considers himself a son and brother of the people and focuses on sharing their pain and solving their issues.

Boost to Punjab’s Development

He added that his government has adopted a people-centric approach, directly engaging with citizens for feedback, which has significantly accelerated Punjab’s development.

Criticism of Opposition Leaders

Mann alleged that opposition leaders are trying to mislead people with fabricated stories but asserted that the public is well aware of their “dubious and deceitful character” and will teach them a lesson.

Attack on Akali Dal

Targeting the Shiromani Akali Dal, he said that voting for them would mean supporting sacrilege against the Guru Granth Sahib. He accused them of hurting public sentiments and referenced incidents like Behbal Kalan and Bargari.

Remarks on Congress

Criticizing the Indian National Congress, Mann said the party is internally divided, with too many chief ministerial aspirants, and predicted it would collapse due to internal conflicts.

Welfare Measures and Achievements

The Chief Minister listed several achievements of his government:

  • Free electricity for 90% of households
  • Over 65,000 jobs provided without corruption
  • Closure of toll plazas saving ₹70 lakh daily
  • Investment in schools, hospitals, and infrastructure

He also highlighted the Chief Minister Sehat Yojana, under which 6.5 million families are being issued health cards, providing free treatment up to ₹10 lakh per family.

Focus on Education

Mann stressed that education is the key to eliminating poverty and social evils, calling it “the light that removes darkness.”

Women Empowerment

Under the Maavan Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana, women receive ₹1,000 per month, while Scheduled Caste women above 18 receive ₹1,500 monthly.

Continuous Power Supply and Farmer Support

He noted that for the first time, farmers are receiving more than eight hours of uninterrupted electricity during the paddy season, even during daytime.

Sharp Political Attacks

Mann accused opposition leaders of corruption, opportunism, and prioritizing family interests over public welfare. He also alleged that past regimes promoted drug trade and harmed Punjab’s youth.

He further criticized Sukhbir Singh Badal, stating that despite being well-educated, he lacks understanding of Punjab’s ground realities.
